Wellington Orienteering Club is the largest orienteering club in the lower part of the North Island of New Zealand. It currently has a membership of about 150 including a large number of families. The club's top orienteers are extremely competitive at both national and international level.
Events:
Club events are held roughly every 2 weeks from February to November. These include events in the Wellington Orienteering Association's Orienteer of the Year competition and the Wellington Secondary Schools competition. On average, the club also organises a national level event every year.
Maps:
The club possesses maps of approximately 25 areas. These range from the technically demanding forested sand-dune terrain on the west coast of the lower North Island; through steep, and frequently rocky, farmland closer to Wellington; to small areas of forest and native bush in the Wellington City Town Belt.
Permanent Course:
Wellingon Orienteering Club and the Wellingon City Council are offering a permanent orienteering course on Mount Victoria. The map and instructions will be available from Freyberg Pool, Kilbirnie Pool, Wellington i-site Visitor centre or can be downloaded using the links above.
